The Oak Project

The Oak is part of a casual game suite in development by the Guild. Our main goal with this is to give something special about Oakland, to the people of Oakland. There's a very rich and beautiful heritage that we want to celebrate and share with this game. Every theme represents the history of the city and its people, and above all else we want our community to be proud of this project for what it represents.

This is our love letter to Black culture and heritage, in the form of a casual cooking and cards game.

Gameplay

Life is good, but it's better when your favorite aunt cooks your favorite dish ...especially at The Cookout! This is a gathering of family and friends, who come together to enjoy a good meal, celebrate family moments ...and cook each other at the card table!

Learn recipes from family members, use their personality traits to make them play their best -- or worst! The better your cooking, the better your odds of winning at the card table at The Cookout!

Prepare dishes pulled straight from the heart and hands of historic Black kitchens: Fried or Baked Chicken, Peach Cobbler, Sweet Cornbread and Collard Greens -- and much, much more! Once you've cooked, bring your dish to The Cookout! Eventually, you can host a cookout of your own.

A round of Spades at The Cookout is much more than cards. You must get to know each person at the table in order to win!

Development

The Oak isn't done yet! We've only just begun. As we ramp up development for the final quarter of 2025, we'll be inviting curious fans and supporters to give feedback and ideas to really make the game shine.
